Common Dad Questions

Size varies and we have found the ideal size to be between 5-9 dads.  When smaller than 5 and if a dad misses the group feels burdened to all cancel. When larger than 9, dads may be a bit more “okay” with missing. And, pending on the makeup of the group, much larger than this and dads have trouble building meaningful relationships with other dads.

Each of the kingdom dads courses are 6 sessions. We encourage cohorts to meet bi-weekly, however this will depend primarily on both the availability and engagement of the dads. The most important factor is to keep scheduling simply and in a rhythm that will keep the dads pressing “further up and further in” with one another.

We have found the ideal length of time for a cohort is one and a half hours. This may seem like a long time, but you will be surprised at how quickly it goes – especially as dads begin to really open up with one another throughout the course.

Wherever is convenient and agreed upon by the dads in the group!  Pick a space that will allow for open dialogue with one another and with God in prayer and remember two things: 1. Dads are going to need a space to be real and open with one another.  2. Atmosphere matters. If you meet in a business conference room, you can expect dads to approach the conversation in a more businesslike manner.

It is recommended that cohorts meet in-person for the majority of the sessions. Virtual meetings are an option for when groups want to meet but it is just not feasible to meet in person.  Remember that the Kingdom Dads cohort gatherings are not just times for instruction, but also times to build strong dad friendships…  something that may be harder to do if you only meet virtually.

Yes and no. All of it is time tested by other intentional & faithful Christian dads. We do ask that you do not reprint or share the material without stated permission.  While we do believe there is great value in the resources we have created and/or curated for each session – the greatest value comes from the cohort discussions with other Christian dads seeking to be more intentional & faithful in every area of family life.

This is highly discouraged. It is even a bit of a stretch to consider just one-on-one coaching as an option. You need other dads in your life to encourage you to keep going. Consistency in the practices requires community. A phrase you will pick up if you ever hang out with Mike is: Faithfulness is pursued together.

At the moment, no. Kingdom Dads is currently supported through the generosity of families committed to seeing culture transformed by the Gospel in the context of families. That said, you will be invited at the end of a course to consider supporting the work of Kingdom Dads.  It costs $250/dad, $500/facilitator, and $2,000/cohort to both sustain and support the mission Kingdom Dads.

A facilitator must have completed the course and it is recommended that they also complete the Kingdom Dad’s facilitator training.  You are actively living into Gospel values and the Kingdom Dads course practices in your own family.  Facilitators will have access to ongoing coaching and additional resources to provide you with the confidence and competence to facilitate a Kingdom Dads cohort.

It is expected that a facilitator spends regular time in prayer for the dads in their cohort. Provides the lead in the preparation, communication and follow-up for the cohort. It is a commitment of an additional hour of your time outside of the sessions?
